Robert Chesler

Having begun a lifelong passion for trading stocks and commodities as a teenager, Robert Chesler discovered his home in the dairy markets in the early 2000’s. Robert's formal education, majoring in Psychology and Political Science with a minor in economics, prepared him well for his current responsibilities at INTL/FCStone. Robert has had varying career focal points as a trader, a market analyst, broker and risk management consultant in multiple food commodities and ultimately found a niche expertise and home within the dairy sector. Using his educational background to follow and anticipate government action while dissecting investor psychology, Robert is able to advise FCStone’s hedge based clients on what to look out for while managing margins. Part of Robert’s responsibilities as Vice President and Head of the FCM Division of INTL FCStone Financial Inc. Foods Division is traveling domestically and internationally to speak about dairy and grain market forecasts while educating the industry on hedge strategies and most importantly margin management.

Tom Gaughan

Tom Gaughan, past Vice President of the Food Service Division of FCStone Group, is a consultant to INTL-FCStone. He advises the firm and the Food Service Division on strategic initiatives, client relationships, and business development. His expertise in the commodity business includes futures trading operations, accounting and compliance issues, computerized trading systems, portfolio analysis and risk management. Tom was the Managing Partner of Downes-O'Neill when the company was acquired by FCStone. He started on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade and Chicago Mercantile Exchange, running trading operations and filling. Tom has also worked as a principal at several money management firms and was a risk manager and trader at PaineWebber in their Managed Futures division.

Dave Kurzawski

After launching his career with Cargill Investor Services in the livestock pits on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Dave recognized the potential of the emerging milk and butter futures market and joined Downes–O’Neill LLC, now a division of FCStone group, in June of 2002. As Senior Broker, he plays a critical role in assisting dairy producers, processors and end-users in managing their Class III and Butter price risk. Dave has authored articles for such publications as The Progressive Dairyman, Dairy Field and Cheese Market News among others and is often called on by Dairyline Radio and Brownfield Ag Radio for his market opinion. Dave earned a B.A. degree in Economics from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.

Kyle Schrad
Risk-Management Consultant

Kyle Schrad, risk-management consultant with FCStone, has extensive experience as an agricultural producer, having owned and operated a 500-acre corn and soybean farm in southern Minnesota since he was 18 years old. He also spent many years working on his father’s 2,500-acre corn and soybean operation. From 1998 to 2004, Schrad worked for Iowa Select, a hog processor located in central Iowa. He joined FCStone’s Minneapolis office in January 2007 as a risk-management consultant, working with grain elevators in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota. In June, 2008, he joined FCStone’s dairy group in Chicago. Schrad holds a B.S. in Agricultural Business Management from the University of Minnesota.

Bill Brooks
Dairy Economist

Bill grew up on a general dairy farm in Northern Missouri. After graduating from North Harrison High School in Eagleville, where he was actively involved in FFA and 4-H, Bill then went on to Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville‚ MO earning a B.S. in Agricultural Business in 1991. He then went on to graduate school at Northwest working towards a M.S. in Agriculture, with emphasis on Agricultural Economics. In May of 1992 he became employed with Mid - America Dairymen, Inc., in Springfield, MO, as Director, Statistical Analysis. In January 1997 his duties were expanded to include Commodity Research. On April 1, 1998 Bill assume the duties of Manager, Commodity Risk & Research for Dairy Farmers of America, Kansas City, MO. On October 1, 1999 Bill joined Mike Downes and Joe O’Neill to form eDairy, Inc., an Internet based Commodity Trading Advisor firm. He is also the Dairy Economist for Downes-O’Neill, LLC, now a part of the food Service Division of FCStone Group. Bill is a founding member, Secretary/Treasurer, and Executive Committee member of The Agricultural Business Council of Kansas City, a member of the National Agri-Marketing Association, a lifetime member of the FFA Alumni Association, and an associate member of the Missouri Dairy Association. He is a past member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Dairy Products, Cheese, Nonfat Dry Milk Committees and the Butter and Milkfat Subcommittee, the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) Dairy Products Committee. Bill is President of Midwest Adaptive Sports. He is a member of the Northwest Missouri State University Alumni Association Board of Directors, a member of the Northwest Missouri Officials Association, and a member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America. He formerly served as an alderman for the City of Dearborn and President of the City of Dearborn Parks and Recreation Association, is a past President of the Northwest Missouri State University St. Joseph Area Alumni and Friends Chapter and past Assistant Scoutmaster and Committee member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 714.

Mary Ecklund joined the Dairy Division of INTL-FCStone in early 2007 following an accounting position with a Chicago-based ticket marketing organization. Mary utilizes both her finance degree and accounting experience in her daily activities in the dairy futures, options, and OTC markets. Mary prides herself in providing unmatched customer service and market intelligence. Mary has recently taken the lead in developing and managing dairy OTC swap contracts, focusing on innovation as well as order flow and execution. In all of Mary’s exciting roles within INTL-FCStone, she has always maintained the belief that client education is at the core of what we do best and she views it as the key to building liquidity going forward.

Ryan Cox

Ryan Cox has been a Market Analyst since joining the Food Service Division of INTL-FCStone in 2006. Ryan began his career in the futures and options market in 2001 when he started working with high net worth speculative clients, assisting them in managing their speculative trading accounts. Ryan’s knowledge of market fundamentals and technicals has proven invaluable to his dairy and Food Service clients since he joined INTL-FCStone. He maintains a focus on expert order placement, execution, and advisement to help his dairy-centered clients capitalize on margin hedging opportunities. Ryan’s experience with fully developed markets has proven invaluable in assisting to develop the dairy futures, options and OTC markets.

Derek Nelson

Derek Nelson, risk-management consultant with FCStone, has considerable experience within the commodity markets. He had spent a significant amount of time working on the trading floors of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange as a clerk and as a trader and member of the CME. Before joining FCStone, Derek spent four years working in the Lind Plus Division of Lind-Waldock as a commodity broker. He joined FCStone’s dairy group in Chicago in August, 2011.

Having taken part in the evolution from open outcry trading to computerized markets of modern times, Brendan offers a wide array of agricultural experience and expertise. Brendan is an expert at analysing the markets through both the fundamental and increasingly important technical perspective. Brendan holds a journalism degree from Columbia College and has been published in leading industry publications.

At an early age Dan discovered his love for agriculture. Having worked on numerous row crop and livestock operations, lead him to pursue his formal education at the University of Illinois – Champaign/Urbana where he earned a B.A. in Agriculture Economics. Dan’s previous experience in commodities was with companies such as Elburn Cooperative Company, Archer Daniels Midland, WalMart, and most recently Kerry Foods. His unique perspective from farmer to store shelf allows him to service a variety of customers throughout all aspects of the marketing/supply chain.
